Paul Kusserow

Executive Chairman, Unified Women’s Healthcare

Paul Kusserow is the Executive Chairman of Unified Women’s Healthcare. He is also the former President and CEO of Amedisys (Nasdaq: AMED), the country’s leading home care company; and Careforth, a care enablement company for caregivers in the home. He is a co-founder and Chairman of Healthpilot Technologies, a Medicare choice optimization technology company, and an Operating Partner at Ares Management.

Paul started his career as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company. Hebegan his healthcare career at Tenet Healthcare (NYSE: THC), a leading hospital and ambulatory surgery company, as Senior Vice President of Strategy and Ventures. After Tenet, Paul was the Senior Vice President of Strategy, Business Development and Innovation at Humana (NYSE: HUM), a Fortune 75 healthcare company. Prior to joining Amedisys, Paul was the President and Vice Chairman of Align-ment Healthcare (Nasdaq: ALHC), a technology-enabled Medicare Advantage plan in Southern California.

He is a Fellow at the Center for Healthcare Marketplace Innovation at the Haas School at University of California, Berkeley, and recently was a lecturer at Vanderbilt University. He is the author of The Anatomy of a Turnaround: Transforming an Organization by Prioritizing People, Performance and Purpose (McGraw Hill, 2023) and co-author of The Coming Healthcare Revolution (Wiley, 2024).

Paul serves on the Boards of Scion Health, Purfoods and Matrix Medical Management. He previously served on the Boards of Oak Street Health (NYSE: OSH), New Century Health, Picwell, and Availity, where he served as Chairman.

He graduated with a BA in Religious Studies from Wesleyan University where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, an Olin Fellow, a Brown Scholar, and Student Fellow at the Center for the Humanities. He received an MA in English Language and Literature from Oxford University where he was a Rhodes Scholar.
